10 Ways Baking Soda Makes Living With Pets Easier!
By The Animal Rescue Site
Baking soda is one of those staple items that everyone has in their pantry. We use it for baking and for use as a thickening agent in sauces and gravy. However, a little-known advantage of baking soda is making living with pets a little easier to manage.
10) Dry Bath
Your cat hates baths, but there are times when he needs a little TLC. You can use baking soda to give your cat or dog a quick cleaning.
9) Clean Dog Toys
Use a little baking soda on a damp rag to clean your dog’s toys.
8) Sweeten Rugs and Carpets
Homes with pets tend to have a smell that people recognize. You can sprinkle some baking soda and let it sit a few minutes before vacuuming to reduce that smell.
7) Cleaning up After an Accident
Sometimes, your cat or dog can’t make it to the litter box or outside; use baking soda to help clean the mess and neutralize the smell.
6) Neutralizing Skunk Smell
If your dog and cat go outside, they might have a run in with a skunk. You can use baking soda to rid their fur of the smell.
5) Taking the Pain out of Bee Stings
When your pet gets stung by a bee, you can use baking soda to relieve the pain.
4) Bird Cages
Use baking soda and a damp rag to clean out your bird’s cage.
3) Pet Beds
If you have pet beds in the house, you know that they can smell a little off in between washings. Sprinkle a little baking soda on the bed and then vacuum it off after letting it sit for 15 minutes.
2) Cat litter
When your litter pan is empty, place a layer of baking soda along the bottom. After scooping, you can sprinkle a little on top to help reduce smells.
1) Accidental Cuts on Nails
If you clip your pet’s nail and it starts to bleed, dip the nail in baking soda and apply pressure.
